Principal's Message

Welcome to MacKenzie Middle School

 

Boozhoo and welcome! MMS is a grade 6 – 8 middle school that provides a wide range of educational opportunities for students. At MMS, we understand that students are experiencing important milestones in their lives. They are experiencing physical, emotional, and social growth! Our staff support students to feel safe, welcome, and prepared to meet this exciting time in their educational journey.

 

At MMS, it is our mission to create a safe and caring learning environment that fosters success through mindful citizenship. We conduct this mission through the programs we offer and the care and interest we invest in our students and school community. We believe that students need to feel safe and welcome at school and be able to see themselves represented and part of our school community. We support and guide our students to be mindful of their impact in our school and wider community. Kindness and respect are modelled and encouraged.

 

MMS offers academic programming in both English and French immersion. We also offer language and cultural programming in Ukrainian. We have an Elder who comes to our school to share the Anishinaabemowin language and culture. Students can also participate in our Indigenous drumming program. Our school also offers Human ecology and Technology education for all students. Students also have a choice between Band and Art programs.

 

In addition to academic and cultural programming, MMS students are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of extracurricular and intramural activities. Students also have opportunities to learn about our community through educational field trips.

 

We look forward to working with MMS families to support MMS students. Families are encouraged to join our Parent committee.
