Robb Nash Event – April 25th
On Thursday at the Robb Nash event we had a really cool thing happen for one of our students.  Robb asked the crowd if anyone knew someone who could sing.  Our students being in the front row starting yelling out Ali, Ali, Ali.  So after some nudging Aaliyah Quemada proceeded up on the stage.  Robb then asked if it was okay if she sang “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele for the crowd, Allie obliged.  They completed an abbreviated version of the song, and after a thunderous applause Robb Nash commented “I think you have more fans here than I do.”  She was just about to leave the stage when Robb stopped her and said "come back, I have something for you." He then pulled out a sharpie marker and autographed the guitar he was using and gifted it to Allie.

In an effort to engage stakeholders, Mountain View School Division has prepared an information package to bring awareness to the K-12 Education Review, and the potential implications to the future of education not only within our division, but in the province of Manitoba as well. Click the above link to register for the Manitoba K-12 Education Review interactive public workshop in Dauphin on Saturday, May 11th from 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM at the Dauphin Rec Centre, Aspen Lodge. A ticket will be emailed to you upon completion of the registration form.

On Thursday, Apr. 18th, a press release on behalf of Education and Training Minister Kelvin Goertzen was held at Mackenzie Middle School to announce an upcoming comprehensive renewal for the school. Mackenzie Middle School will see at least $4 million in upgrades to a 60-year-old wing including a roof replacement, a new mechanical heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system and a foundation upgrade. To improve accessibility, a new link will connect the second-storey wing to the main building and two accessible washrooms will be installed. Construction is slated to begin in summer 2019. The Board of Trustees for Mountain View School Division is pleased to announce that Stephen Jaddock has accepted the position of Assistant Superintendent – Programs and Planning effective July 1, 2019. Please click on the above link for details.

Thank you Constable Olson!

Special thanks to Constable Gord Olson of the RCMP Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit for his visit to our school last week. He was able to meet with each grade level to discuss the appropriate use of cellphones and personal devices while at school and at home. He was also able to meet with parents that same evening and provide some very valuable information and tips to help in keeping our kids safe from the pitfalls of social media.

He also provided us with a list of resources that parents can access for further support.
