Parent Committee

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, March 4 at 7pm. We will be reviewing our field trips and fundraising plans. See you there!

Grade 7 Ice Fishing Presentation

Marsi, meegwetch, thank you Intermountain Sport Fishing Enhancement Inc. for coming to MMS on January 28 to share their knowledge and expertise with our grade 7 classes. Students learned about how to prepare for ice fishing, the different species in our area, careers in fish and water conservation, and the variety of tack and technology that could be used to enjoy a day out on the ice. We feel confident and look forward to our ice fishing event. A huge thank you to Rod Carberry, Zabrina Nolin, Blake McMullen, Jesse MacMillan, and Chance Hulley!

Grade 7 Ice Fishing Change of Date

Grade 7 students have an opportunity to participate in an ice-fishing learning experience on Thursday, February 12 at Stoney Point Beach. This date is moved up from March so we can utilize the MVSD shacks. We will depart MMS by bus at 9am and return approximately 3:00pm. A hot dog lunch will be provided, please send alternate lunch if your child has specific dietary needs. Students not going on the trip will have regular classes and students will be supervised by another teacher.

Our school also plans a walk to Vermillion Park in February to actively demonstrate our commitment. Dates will be announced when confirmed.

Marsi, meegwetch, thank you for supporting our community!

Traffic Safety at MMS

Outside supervisors have noticed that students are being dropped off and walking across the middle of the street rather than walking to the corner and using the crosswalks. Please encourage your student to walk to the corner to use the crosswalk. We need your support as parents and caregivers to ensure our students are safe.

I LOVE TO READ at MMS!

Our students and staff will be actively participating in I Love to Read! activities this month. Our aim is to celebrate and encourage our students to enhance their literacy skills. February will be filled with fun activities, prizes and a special celebration at the end of the month. Please support your student by asking them what they are reading.

We are in our last month of curling. We are hosting MVSD Curling Divisionals on Tuesday, February 17. Students on the Divisional teams will be curling all day. Come out to support our students. Students will be able to purchase food items upstairs.

Our end of season Funspiel will be held on Tuesday, February 24. All of our MMS curling students will be curling all day.

Permission forms for both events have been sent home with students.

Improv Starts This Week!

We are looking forward to Improv with Martijn van Luijn! This opportunity is open to grade 8 students on Wednesdays during their lunch hour. Students will eat lunch in the Cultural Room so that they can start the session promptly. The first session is Wednesday, February 4.

Tibert Was at MMS! Submitted by Monsieur Liwiski’s Gr. 6 class.

Today we will talk about TiBert/Rob Malo. We are going to talk about who he is and his talents. The date of his show was January 16th at MMS.

TiBert plays the role of a Voyageur. He did a presentation for the French immersion students. He taught us about the territories, trading and to be kind. We also played a game about trading. It was very fun, and we learned more about trading. It was a cool experience, and we hope we can do it again.

TiBert had a presentation with the whole school in the gym. He told a story about a bear while juggling, and it was awesome! He also told us about his friend DJ Doozie. There was an ax balancing competition! The axes were made of plastic and not real.

We hope that you learned more about TiBert and who he is. We would enjoy having him join us again.
