On June 11, 2021, MVSD was notified of a new case of COVID-19 associated with MacKenzie Middle School; however, the individual was NOT present in the school during their period of communicability (POC) and there are no school-related close contacts. The National STEAM Summer Camp, held virtually from July 19-23, 2021, is designed to introduce students entering grades 7-12 to the many opportunities in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) field through fun and interactive activities. Due to the number of recent positive COVID-19 cases in the City of Dauphin, Manitoba Public Health has advised that all Dauphin schools remain in full remote learning until Friday, June 18 with a potential return to in-person learning on Monday, June 21. Flags within Mountain View School Division will be flown at half-mast from Monday, May 31, 2021 to the morning of Wednesday, June 9, 2021, to recognize, honour and remember the 215 children found buried at a former residential school in Kamloops, BC. All students and staff across MVSD are encouraged to wear orange on Monday, May 31 in honour and remembrance of the 215 children.
Due to the recent increase in positive COVID-19 cases in the Dauphin and surrounding area, Manitoba Public Health has advised that Mountain View School Division transition all schools in the City of Dauphin to full remote learning for a two-week period. The remote learning period for MacKenzie Middle School will now be from May 25th until June 9th, inclusive, unless a decision is made to extend the period of remote learning (after consultation with Public Health). On June 2, 2021, Manitoba Public Health officials advised MacKenzie Middle School of at least one confirmed case of COVID-19 in the school on May 25th, 26th, 28th and 29th.
